FEAST Convention Update…
In an effort to keep up with the ever changing needs of homeschool families, FEAST has decided that the expense, time and energy of doing a local convention was no longer feasible, but will instead host educational workshops and events throughout the year as well as employ a year round curriculum advisory team to meet these needs. Our curriculum advisors are availableat 7735 Mockingbird Lane, San Antonio, 78229 , Normally open, Monday - Thursday -- 10am to 4pm. We are closed on Friday. Offices are closed the entire week and Christmas, thru Jan 5. to discuss your curriculum needs at no additional cost to your family plus we have established discounts with many of these suppliers to bring you convention discounts without the expense of attending a distant convention. You can learn more about this amazing Resource Center, here.
We also encourage our families to take advantage of the “Called To Teach” conventions in Dallas or the Woodlands for their convention needs. Attending one of these conventions is a wonderful vacation style experience. You will find more information on the Called to Teach conventions at THSC.org.

2017 Convention Review
We are thankful to the Lord that FEAST was able to log another annual convention in the book. Thanks to all that were able to be with us. For those that were not, don’t worry, we have convention recording that are available from Alliance Recordings, so you can start listening today! As we discussed what worked with the convention and what needed improvement, there is always a variety of answers according to each person’s perspective, so we have sent out a survey and hope to have some working points ready for consideration soon.
One home school mom, Susan Iverson, expressed that she heard some home schooling moms say that sometimes coming to a convention can cause you to compare your own children’s progress to others. This is a surefire way to destroy contentment and joy. We hope that if you were one of these mamas that you will not be overwhelmed, because this was not our desire. One of the beauties of home schooling is the ability to customize your home schooling to your own children’s needs.
Some also said that they battle extreme temptation in the exhibit hall as they struggle to resist the latest and greatest from the vendors. This is not a struggle that is unique to home school conventions but temptations can hit you anywhere even at the mall or the grocery store, but you still need to buy clothes and food, so avoiding the vending hall that may offer you the perfect curriculum solution should never be avoided.

The 2017 FEAST Convention is an annual event that serves as a celebration of the multi-faceted face of home education in Texas. Conventions can be life changing events for the whole family. Children and teens enjoy making new friends as they participate in programs designed to sow into their lives, stretching them as they interact with peers under supervised instruction freeing up mom and dad to enjoy the convention workshops and shopping uninterrupted.
Our theme this year is “On The Right Path”. We want to remind you that “On the journey of life… It’s okay to stop and ask directions!” Conventions can be overwhelming and you may feel that you are wondering around aimlessly with no plan or standing with a deer in the headlight look. We understand and have veteran home school parents manning the FEAST Booth to help you get back on track. Soon enough you will understand the value of the one on one, face to face, interaction with speakers and curriculum providers. that can only be found at a home school convention. Attending a convention can catapult you forward, revitalizing your enthusiasm with the new information, teaching techniques, encouragement and tools to succeed in home schooling another year!
