Our Season is Underway! 🏀

Our FEAST Basketball teams participated in the Central Texas Fall Classic and we had a great showing! The Varsity Boys finished undefeated and won the Championship Game against the Victoria Cobras 57-45. Junior Varsity Boys had a strong tournament and finished 3rd in the Gold Division with a combined record of 2-2. The 14u boys Red Team won the Silver Championship Game and had an overall record of 3-1. There was just one loss to the tournament champions from FBCHA with a score of 23-20. The 14u boys White Team record was 1-3, and they played extremely well for being such a young team. The 12u boys Red Team went 2-2 and finished with a 4th place showing. The 12u boys White Team, a very young team finished 0-4, but they played hard and got better as the tournament progressed. It was a great tourney!

We are excited for a new fundraising campaign with our Shoot-a-thon! We will need all FEAST Basketball families to participate as our goal is to offset all the rising costs associated with running a large program. More information to come so check in to FEAST Basketball and our social media for updates! Instagram @feastpatriotsbasketball and Facebook @feastbasketball.The FEAST Patriot Invitational is just around the corner on December 9-10. We anticipate the largest turnout ever! This will be a huge undertaking and we need volunteers to help support! Please email basketball@homeschoolfeast.com or basketballscheduling@homeschoolfeast.com if you’re able to help – thank you!

Basketball Season is Upon Us! 🏀

We are gearing up for the upcoming season and are excited to announce that we have 7 boys teams this year! We anticipate being competitive in all divisions. Our season began with all teams participating in the Central Fall Classic in Buda, Texas October 28-29. The Varsity Boys and JV1 Boys participated in preseason leagues and tournaments this summer and have shown great progress.

The 14u Boys concluded the “Friday Night” EMS Fall League and won the first game and lost their second bringing their record to 2-4. Over 6 games they averaged 32 pts/game while giving up 37 pts/game. This league gave the boys game experience and helped the coaching staff evaluate and identify opportunities: breaking the full-court press, turnovers, defense, and player skill level. This has helped prepare the 14u boys for the start of the season.

We are excited for a new fundraising campaign with our Shoot-a-thon! We will need all FEAST Basketball families to participate as our goal is to offset the rising costs associated with running a program this large.

Be sure to follow us on Instagram @feastpatriotsbasketball and on our Facebook page @feastbasketball for updates and announcements!

Interested in volunteering? We are still looking for volunteers to help coach some of our teams. This is a great experience to learn how to lead a team and be around fellow great coaches. Contact us for more information or apply today!

Our Season Grand Finale – Nationals! And Family Fun at our Spurs Night!

FEAST Varsity Boys finished their season this year at Nationals in Springfield, Missouri. Results are announced on our webpage! This was a great experience for the team to participate in the National Christian HomeSchool Basketball Championships. Even more exciting, the National Tournament has eclipsed 360 teams for the first time ever!

FEAST Basketball also had a wonderful night at the Spurs game last month!!

What an amazing experience of watching the San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors warm-up via courtside! Our players loved to see all these professional basketball players so close up. Jock Landale, one of the Spurs’ power forwards, visited and talked with some of the players, and thanked us for coming out! See more pictures on Instagram!

After warm-ups, our families filled up on concessions and headed to our seats. We may not have had the courtside view anymore, but we all had a great time. This family event encouraged lots of laughs and great conversation – all while watching the Spurs play! To top off the night, our players had the chance to head to the court after the game and shoot a free throw! Oh what a night it was for our team community – we can’t wait to do it again soon!

Stay tuned to FEAST Basketball for off-season camps!! More information to follow…

Basketball in the Midst of our Busy Season

FEAST Basketball is currently in the midst of our very busy basketball season!

Basketball is Starting Strong!!

The FEAST Patriots Basketball season is officially underway with our participation in the Central Fall Classic (CTFC) that was held in Buda, Texas. We had an exciting and competitive tournament! The Varsity boys won 2 games but lost to San Marcos in the finals to finish 2nd in the CTFC. Our JV1 team went 2 and 2 in the tournament, finishing second in the Silver division. Our JV2 team went 1 and 3 in CTFC with a win over Austin, and competed strong the entire tournament. The 14UA went 3 and 1 and was the consolation winner. The 13U went 1 and 3, but beat Austin in overtime of their final game. The 12u Red Team had a record of 1 and 3, while the 12u White team went 0-4. Both played hard and displayed development since practices began.

We are pleased to honor our senior basketball players, as they begin their last year with the FEAST organization. We pray that we have had a positive impact on these fine young men as they move forward into life’s journey.

FEAST Patriot Invitational Update: We are pleased to announce that we have over 40 teams committed to participate in this year’s Invitational!  We should have good competition in the Varsity, JV and Middle School boys. The Invitational is one of our main fundraising events for the organization and we need maximum participation from both the players and the parents. Please watch for more information about our need for volunteers, food items and other donations. This should be another great event.

In conjunction with the Patriot Invitational, we are conducting a basketball raffle! The drawing is on December 11th. It is important to have a strong effort to sell our raffle tickets because these funds help offset the cost of running this organization. All of the proceeds go directly to supporting the basketball program. We are committed as an organization to keep costs to a minimum for our families.

Head Commissioner: Dean Fagan

We’re happy to welcome back Dean in his second year as Basketball Head Commissioner!

The Fagan family has been a part of FEAST for almost 18 years. Dean has been coaching basketball for almost 22 years at various levels at private schools, leagues, and of course for homeschool teams.

Dean has been married to his lovely wife, Lindsie, for 31 years and they have six daughters and four grandchildren. He is a Program Director for a project supporting military dentistry. When he finds time off, he enjoys watching football and basketball, and fishing at the coast!

Boys’ Commissioner & Head Coach: Scott Lane

Welcome back, also, to Scott in his role as Boys’ Basketball Commissioner and Varsity Head Coach! His varsity record with FEAST is 149 wins and 66 losses, which includes a regional championship, a National Bronze Ball and National Gold Ball championships.

Scott’s extensive service in athletics includes five years as FEAST Athletic Director and 33 years coaching and teaching in Texas public schools. He is President of the San Antonio Bible Based Science Association, which has provided material for our FEAST Science Workshops for the past 17 years. He is co-host of SABBSA’s “Believing the Bible ” radio program heard locally on KSLR and in 120 countries.

Scott is married to his bride, Brenda, of 36 years and they have three grown children and nine grandchildren. He is an avid golfer on the side, but if you love chess, you might want to reach out and challenge him; Scott is an A-rated chess player who plays online with people across the world every day!

Girls’ Commissioner & Head Coach: Misty Hubbard

Returning for a sixth year serving our girls’ program, welcome back to Misty as Girls’ Commissioner and Head Coach! Misty loves that FEAST is an excellent place for homeschool athletes to play competitive sports, form friendships, build Christ-like character, develop leadership skills, learn teamwork, self-discipline, self-control, perseverance, obedience, and have a lot of fun! She believes with encouragement, hard work, dedication, and positive role models, there is no limit to what these young athletes can achieve.

Misty is from west central Texas and grew up with three sisters playing all sports, but found basketball to be her favorite! She dreamed of becoming a wife, mom, basketball coach, mentor, and part of a ministry for teens. God has blessed her with all of those opportunities and more, and we appreciate her service in so many of those capacities at FEAST!

Misty and her wonderful husband, Jon, have three beautiful children, Ayla, Trinity and Asher, and have homeschooled for 10 years. Trinity is active in our girls’ basketball program, and Asher plays basketball and baseball for FEAST. The Hubbards love bible study together, attending church, family outings/picnics, travel, hiking, camping, family games, movie nights, swimming, and playing any competitive sport. They are clearly an active family and love being outdoors!

Thank you to Dean, Scott and Misty for your continued service – we look forward to a fantastic season under your leadership!

April 2021

Basketball season has come to a successful close for FEAST this year!

On the boys’ side, we had 70 boys compete on seven competitive teams in both the middle school and high school divisions. We would like to thank all of the parents who helped us in so many ways to get kids to games and practices. They help with books and clocks and gates, as well as help us maneuver through a COVID year successfully that none of us had ever experienced before. Our boys’ varsity finished 4th at state and concluded the year with an impressive 20 win, 12 loss record.

FEAST Patriot Girls had a great showing at the Big South Regional Tournament by  placing third in the 2021 postseason toughest Homeschool Regional Tournament in the nation. Houston’s District Champion San Antonio FEAST took down the three-time defending National Champion Memphis MHEA Eagles in a defensive battle, beating them 40-37 in their first game. Winning the first game put FEAST in the semi-finals to compete against Dallas Thunder, the #2 ranked national homeschool team, in which the girls competed very well, only losing by 9 points. The FEAST Patriot Girls received their third-place title after battling it out with Salt and Light to win 59-46. We are so proud of every single one of the girls. They always give 110% every step of the way. They continue to encourage one another and thrive on being their best for the team. The FEAST Patriot Girls have wrapped up their 2020-2021 season, with so much to be pleased about, finishing 2nd at state and 3rd at the multi-state Big South Regional Tournament.

Congratulations to our Girls Basketball MVP and All-District Players!

Lauren Sansano was named 18U Girls District MVP /All-District Team. Trinity Hubbard and Maddy Hanson were also named All-District Team, with Maddy being a finalist.

Recognizing Our Girls Varsity Seniors:

Chaeli Criddle: SR. #23 Guard/Shooting Guard – Chaeli was new to the FEAST Patriot family this year, but it did not take her long to adjust and fit right in from day one. She was a big part of our team this year, offensively and defensively. She was so much fun to have on the team and so much fun to coach. Chaeli was a hard worker, committed, great team player, always smiling, always ready to go, always willing to help her teammates out where she could, and always willing to ask questions and learn more. Chaeli, we wish you all the best after you graduate high school. We will all miss you, and we love you! God has a plan for you. Trust in His plan.

Lanie Douget: SR. #33 Guard – Lanie was also new to our FEAST Patriot family this year. Same as Chaeli, it did not take long for her to fit right in with the FEAST girls. Lanie played a big part in our team’s defense this year. She shut down several primary shooters from the other teams because of her quickness, speed, and high energy. Her exceptional defense was key to helping our defense be as effective as it was. Lanie was so much fun to coach. She was always paying attention and always doing exactly what was asked from her. She was a very dependable player. Lanie, we wish you all the best after graduating high school! We will miss you, and we love you! God has a plan for you. Trust in His plan.

If a summer basketball league forms, we will be a part of it. Please check your monthly MANNA and FEAST e-blasts for news on any summer programs.

March 2021

The FEAST Patriot Girls had a great showing at Space City, District, and State!

The girls played with heart, soul, and integrity. They were champions in showing strong Godly character, positivity, leadership, friendship, teamwork, communication, determination, and love. They did not allow challenges to stand in the way. They stood together, jumped over the hurdles that came their way, and had the vision to see these obstacles as opportunities. “Good teams become great ones when the members trust each other enough to surrender the “ME” for the “WE.” Phil Jackson. “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.” Michael Jordan.

The FEAST Patriot Girls placed first at Space City Jam with a 5-0 record, beating the Central Texas Saints 55-47 to bring home the championship trophy. Two All-Tournaments went to Lauren Sansano and Maddy Hanson. Lauren averaged 18 points/game, 37 rebounds, 25 assists, 18 steals, 5 deflects and 3 blocks. Lauren showed outstanding leadership and led the team to victory. Maddy Hanson averaged 24 points/game, 66 rebounds, 9 assists, 8 steals, 12 deflects, and 4 blocks. Maddy did an outstanding job showing discipline and patience on both offense and defense. She thrived at the free throw line shooting at 80%.

The FEAST Patriot Girls placed first at District with a 3-0 record, beating Salt and Light 56-49 in the championship game. Winning this tournament bumped the girls up in National rankings to #4.

The FEAST Patriot Girls placed second at state, losing to the #1 Ranked National Team, Lubbock Titans, by 15 points in the championship game. “The girls played a great game and gave it their all the entire time. We know we have to step it up a notch and prepare ourselves for more challenging games.” Offensive Award went to Chaeli Criddle, Defensive Award went to Lanie Douget, and Christian Character Award went to Alex Hrechko. Chaeli has shown incredible willingness and determination to learn how to be more effective on offense, and it is starting to show on the court. Lanie Douget, with her exceptional defense, has shut down several primary shooters on the other team. Her quickness and speed have been the key to helping our defense be as effective as it is. Alex has stepped up and has shown what a leader can be in a Godly, uplifting, and encouraging way.

As a team, the players have learned from our wins and losses and have applied to our practices to prepare us for Regionals and Nationals coming up.

On the boys side we had six teams compete very well in the  Space City and State Tournaments. In addition our 14U boys A team took 2nd place in both the ISAL A division regular season and end of season tournament. At Space City our 16U boys took second place in their division. At state, our 12 U boys were 5th in state, our 14U boys A team finished 3rd, our JV1 team won the 16U consolation bracket, and our varsity boys finished 4th in state.

The seasons for all of our boys basketball teams concluded at the end of February and we would like to thank all of the families who participated and supported this fine program. Our participation levels and the level of competitive play we exhibit are only possible because of what the FEAST players, parents and families contribute to this program.

February 2021

This season, the FEAST Girls’ Varsity Basketball team has had its share of challenges.

We suffered four injuries and recently lost three close competitive games. We are learning not to let a win or loss define who we are; we are learning to let our character define us. We will learn from these challenges and grow stronger individually and as a team in preparation for our upcoming District, Regional, and National Tournaments. Just as everyone has a Godly purpose, every team member has something to bring to the team, and everyone plays a critical role in helping the team persevere. The girl’s varsity really came together and won the Houston Space city Tournament in convincing fashion.

Our boys’ teams continue to maneuver their way through a season of COVID challenges we have all never seen before.

We had six teams participate in Houston at the Space City Jam Tournament, with our JV1 team taking second place in their division. Most of our teams will conclude their season at the state tournament the first weekend in February.

January 2021

FEAST basketball met a lot of challenges in the month of December.

We lost several games on each of our nine teams due to other program’s COVID closures or our own exposures on four teams. We thank our families for working through all of these challenges together as we maneuver through a year and environment none of us have ever seen before.

In spite of these challenges, we successfully hosted our annual FEAST Invitational Tournament and moved forward with trying to identify and self-quarantine all exposed individuals to maintain the safety of our participants. It has really been a gift from God and a testament to our participating families, coaches, and staff that we did not have to deal with any of these challenges for the first three months of the season, while multiple programs around us struggled mightily with COVID. Please pray for an abatement of this scourge and that our programs can move forward safely and positively this New Year!

Congratulations to our FEAST varsity boys and boys 16U Red teams, which won their tournament brackets at the FEAST Tournament.
