Crucified With Christ

CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST

Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ:
nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:
and the life which I now live in the flesh
I live
by the faith of the Son of God,
who loved me,
and gave himself for me.”

What does it mean to be crucified with Christ? Looking at Galatians 2:20 carefully gives us the answer to this powerful fact for the born-again child of God.

This verse obviously does not mean that I experienced the physical pain that Jesus did when He was nailed to the cross. The point here is death. Jesus died on the cross and I died with Him, yet I live. How can that be? The death that I experience in Christ is the death of my old life. It is the death of self. The life that I now live is the supernatural life that Christ lives through me as I continually put my trust in Him.

To experience this supernatural life I must be intentional about my faith in Christ. If I am not intentional, my flesh will rise up and usurp the throne of my life that belongs only to Jesus.

If I heed the words of Galatians 5:16 “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” To walk in the Spirit so that I will not fulfill the desires of the flesh, I won’t continually struggle with my old life of selfishness and sin.

The life that is crucified with Christ is truly a life that is filled with inexpressible joy and peace!

Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ:
nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:
and the life which I now live in the flesh
I live
by the faith of the Son of God,
who loved me,
and gave himself for me.”
