Aerospace Engineering – Juniors (Ages 5-7) – 8 weeks
Mondays from 10:00am to 11:15am

Engineering for Kids presents young engineers with an opportunity to explore the fundamental concepts of aerospace engineering including aircraft and spacecraft design. The Junior Aerospace Engineering classes introduce our youngest engineers to fundamental concepts of aircraft design. Through open and focused exploration, students explore and construct airplanes, rockets, hot air balloons and more.

Students will be able to:
• Explain the term thrust as it relates to aerospace engineering
• Create a plane utilizing potential and kinetic energy
• Understand the design of a rocket, including the nose cone, fins and fuselage

Aerospace Engineering – Apprentice (Ages 8 – 14) 8 weeks
Mondays from 10:00am to 11:15am

Does your child ever question how things fly? During Aerospace Apprentice Engineering classes, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine a variety of flying machines. They will construct a shock-absorbing system designed to protect marshmallow astronauts in a lunar vehicle, as well as create their own air-powered rockets. Students will also assemble a hot air balloon model that actually takes flight.

Students will be able to:
• Explore concepts such as aerodynamics, thrust, lift, drag and gravity through unique hands-on activities
• Solve real-world engineering problems using the Engineering Design Process
• Create an original design using simple everyday machines
• Work in collaborative groups to create original designs
