What is the Price of Easter?
It seems to come up in every conversation; prices have gone up, things are more expensive from gas, to groceries. Anything worth having costs something. As I ponder all the prices we are paying now, the question, “How much did my salvation cost?” swims through my mind.
Let’s go back to the night. This was the night that Jesus shared the Last Supper with His disciples. Judas betrayed Him. He went to Gethsemane to pray, and could not get His disciples to stay awake. It was during this time Jesus asked His Father, three times, to let this cup pass from Him, if it was His Father’s will. It was not.
I can feel the agony and sorrow in His words, yet He waited obediently, knowing what was to come. Knowing that He would be betrayed by His friends, mocked, ridiculed, beaten, and put to death. Why did He do this? He was willing to do this for you, and me, and your neighbor, and yes, even that person who treats you unfairly! Willing because He is man, AND He is God.
“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:” 1 Peter 3:18
Please read the accounts found in Matthew chapter 26, Mark chapter 14, Luke chapter 22, and for all the details John chapters 16-18.
My carnal mind cannot fully comprehend how much God loves me, and you. He loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son to die in our place. He took my sins, your sins, and the sins of the whole world!
“For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
This is the ultimate sacrifice and the most expensive action in history. If you were to pay someone to do this for you, well, you could not. And yet, the Father has made the redemption free to all who ask. I have always loved the celebration of Easter. As a Christian, it is the foundation of my faith. A time to stop and focus on what we are celebrating. I pray that you and your family enjoy the celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection. If you have not received this free gift I speak of, let’s have a cup of coffee, I would love to tell you about my Jesus! Click here to send me a message to meet up!
