6 Man Football
High School Football
Plans are well underway for another exciting Patriot Football season in 2008. We are in the
process of developing a 10 game Varsity and 7 game Junior Varsity schedule which will include several new teams we
have not played before. In addition, both the Varsity and Junior Varsity will again participate in the post season
Independent State Championship Playoffs in early November. In 2007 FEAST's Varsity team was a finalist and the Junior
Varsity won their division.
We play full contact tackle six-man football, and 2008 will be our fourth season. All
interested young men who will be 14 to 18 years of age as of September 1, 2008 are eligible to participate. Fall
practice will begin in early August and our season will begin the last weekend in August.
As the fall season draws closer and additional information becomes available, we will provide
updates on the FEAST Website and future Manna editions. In the mean time, should you have any questions please contact
FEAST Athletic Coordinator Linda Whiten (210) 342- 4674 ext. 14, or Football Commissioner Rush Cone (210) 381-8000.
Middle School Football
The Central Texas Junior High School Football conference (“CTFC”) league meeting
was held in Marble Falls, Texas on February 7th. During that meeting 3 more teams were voted into the league. FEAST
will continue to participate in the Southern Division in the Fall of 2008. Patriot Middle School Head Coach John Harris
was elected to the position of director and will coordinate the Southern Division teams. The CTFC will consist of 14
teams in 2008 with 7 teams in each division. In 2007, the MS Patriots finished second in their division and finished
3rd in overall conference standings. Coach Harris and the returning players are looking to improve on that record in
2008.
Teams participating in the Southern division include Boerne Geneva, Bulverde Bracken
Christian, Kerrville Notre Dame, Prairie Lea, San Antonio Shepherd of the Hills, and Seguin Lifegate.
CTFC teams consist of players who are 11 to 14 years of age and participate in full contact
six-man tackle football. We are currently developing an 8 game schedule for 2008 with one additional playoff game as
part of an end of season tournament for league play. A 4 to 5 game non-league schedule for planned younger players.
Games will begin in September, with preseason practices beginning in early August. Continue to watch for updates on
the FEAST website and in upcoming MANNAs.
ANNOUNCING THE 2008
PATRIOT SPRING FOOTBALL CAMP
Calling all Middle School and High School Football Players! FEAST's annual Spring Football Camp is coming up in May! This is when we spend time learning about tackle football at FEAST and find out who is interested in becoming part of our fast growing Six Man Football program.
The camp will be divided into High School and Middle School groups. All home schooled young men who will be 14 to 18 years of age as of September 1, 2008 are eligible to participate at the High School level. All home schooled young men who will be 11 to 14 years old as of September 1, 2008 are eligible to participate at the Middle School level. The Varsity camp will be in full pads with full contact. The Middle School camp will be in shirts, shorts and shoes the first week (and NEW TO THIS YEAR), full pads and full contact the second week. (Please, no tennis shoes or steel tipped cleats at either the Varsity or Middle School camps.) All High School Camp attendees will need to arrive at Camp on Thursday, May 1 by 3:15 PM to be issued their equipment.
Both camps will focus on teaching basic offensive and defensive fundamentals. The Varsity will review blocking, tackling, passing and running techniques while the Middle School will begin the process of learning 6-man football rules and offensive and defensive plays and formations.
The fee for the camp is $80 per player. Payment is required at the time of registration. Because space is limited, early registration is encouraged. If interested, please fill out the registration form and deliver it to the FEAST Bookstore with the registration fee.
While participation in the Spring Camp is not a prerequisite for participation on the Varsity or Middle School football teams next fall, those young men who choose to participate this spring will certainly have a head start. Keep watching your Manna for further news concerning the FEAST football program. If you have any questions, please contact either FEAST Football Commissioner Rush Cone (210) 381-8000 or FEAST Athletic Coordinator Linda Whiten at (210) 342-4674 ext. 14 or sports@homeschoolfeast.com.

San Antonio, Texas – This was a game of two halves. The Winston Eagles came out in the first half and with three spectacular plays scored 3 touchdowns to tie the score at 20-20 late in the second quarter. However, with only 32 seconds left on the first half play clock, the Patriots were able to score a touchdown and a first ever field goal to end the half leading 30-20. The second half was all Patriots as the team, behind the running of freshman tailback Ruben Rogerio (41-319 yds. rushing, 4 TDs), put 30 unanswered points on the board to win going away by the score of 60-30.
The game started normal enough as the Patriots took the opening kick off and on the first offensive play completed a 39 yard pass from junior quarterback Josh Leininger (1-3 yds. rushing, 13-6-1 115 yds. passing, 2 tackles, 1 fumble recovered, 1 qb force, 1 field goal, 3 TDs) to junior end Brandon Huber (1-1 yd. rushing, 2-46 yds. receiving, 1 tackle, 1 TD) to the Eagles 4 yard line. Three plays later Rogerio scored the first of his 4 touchdowns. But the Eagles served quick notice that they had other ideas as Matt Dotson took the kick off on the Eagles 4 yard line and proceeded to run 76 yards for an Eagles touchdown. After a successful extra point the Eagles held the lead 8-6.
The Patriots, behind the blocking of junior end Jonathan Navarrete (1 tackle), sophomore end Michael Burbank (1-13 yds. receiving), senior end Roman Rogerio (11 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 qb force), sophomore center James Bakke (2-41 yds. receiving, 1 tackle, 1 fumble recovered, 1 TD) and senior readback Kevin Ebersole (2-6 yds. rushing, 2-28 yds. receiving, 2 tackles, 1 TD), scored two more Rogerio touchdowns in the first quarter to increase their lead to 20-6. However, the Eagles were not finished as late in the first quarter Jon Andresen took a pass from Ryan Dannhardt just over the outstretched hands of freshman cornerback Aaron Macias (2 tackles) and scampered 58 yards for the Eagles second score. This was followed early in the second quarter by a 57 yard touchdown run by the Eagles Andresen on a misdirection play to even the score at 20 all.
I was not until the clock showed 32 seconds left in the first half that the Patriots were able to break the tie on a 7 yard pass from Leininger to James Bakke. But the pace picked up as on the second offensive play of Winston’s next series senior defensive end John Dana (1-3 yds. rushing, 5 tackles, 1 for loss, 1 fumble caused, 1 qb force, 1 int.) knocked the ball loose which was picked up by senior defensive end Michael Bakke (10 tackles, 1 fumble recovered, 3 qb forces) who returned it to the Winston 18 yard line. With only 4 ticks left on the clock, the Patriots lined up and Leininger calmly kick the Patriot’s first ever field goal (28 yards) as the buzzer sounded to end the half with the Patriots in the lead by the score of 30-20.
The second half was all Patriots as the offense, behind the running of Rogerio and passing of Leininger, proved to be too strong for the Eagles scoring 4 unanswered touchdowns. During this same period the defense lead by defensive ends Michael Bakke and Dana, mike Roman Rogerio, senior striker Luke Macias (17 tackles) and cornerbacks freshman Max Clark (2-1-0 13 yds. passing, 6 tackles, 1 int.) and Ebersole shut down the Eagle offense by holding them to only 1 first down for the entire half. It should also be noted that with his interception Clark ends the season with 8 making him the current six man football statewide statistical leader in this category.
San Antonio, Texas – Playing on Thursday night, October 26th, the Patriots Junior Varsity kept its 2007 season record unsullied by defeating the Winston Eagles Junior Varsity by the score of 52-13. Unlike the Varsity game the following night, the junior Patriots left no doubt about the outcome as they ran off 38 unanswered points in the first half. The Eagles temporarily narrowed the lead with the only score in the third quarter and the first score in the fourth before the Patriots closed out the game with two more touchdowns.
To open the game freshman readback Caleb Miller (7-56 yds. rushing, 5-2-0 50 yds. passing, 1-14 yds. receiving, 5 tackles, 1 int., 3 TDs) on the first two offensive plays carried the ball from the Patriot’s 39 yard line down to the goal line only to fumble into the end zone. Fortunately, alert freshmen end Josh Hogan (1-10 yds. receiving, 7 tackles, 1 TD) was there to pounce on the ball and secure the score. To make up for the miscue, on the next offensive drive Miller threw a pass to freshman readback Max Clark (1-(3) yds. rushing, 4-2-0 16 yds. passing, 1-40 yds. receiving, 3 tackles, 2 TDs) who dashed 40 yards for the Patriot’s second score.
The second quarter opened with freshman tailback Aaron Macias (10-119 yds. rushing, 9 tackles, 3 TDs), who lead all rushers, running in from 4 yards out. The Patriots kept the pressure on as Miller intercepted an Eagle pass on their next offensive series and then 4 plays later hauled in a Clark TD pass, this one for 14 yards. Macias closed out the first half of scoring on the next series with a 6 yard run behind the blocking of ends sophomore Luke Colyer (1-2 yds. receiving, 2 tackles, 1 qb force, 1 TD), sophomore Kevin Pena (1-11 yds. rushing, 8 tackles) and freshman Hogan, center sophomore Phillip Graham (6 tackles, 1 for loss) and readback Miller.
In the third quarter the Eagles got on the scoreboard as Chris Denno ran in from 5 yards out. The Eagles scored again early in the fourth quarter as Justin Barnes crossed the goal line from 4 yard out. But the Patriots came roaring back as Colyer pulled in a 2 yard pass from Miller and Macias closed out an outstanding offensive day with a 25 yard scamper to pay dirt.
Throughout the game the Patriot defense played with enthusiasm and all of the 9 Junior Varsity players contributed, including new comer freshman Alex Baca (2 tackles), freshman Cody DeBarge (3 tackles), and freshman Ruben Rogerio (9 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 qb force, 1 qb sack).
Next Week Games:

| FEAST Middle School Playoff Results: |
On Saturday, October 27th at the Prairie Lea football stadium, the FEAST Middle School Patriot football team won 3rd place in the Central Texas Middle School Football Conference for the 2007 season by beating Summit Christian of Cedar Park by a score of 42-13.
The Patriots, coming off of a bye week, appeared a little nervous from the start of the game. Summit Christian capitalized on the case of Patriot nerves as their leading running back scored on his first two runs of 60 and 55 yards respectively in the first quarter. However, in between Summit’s two touchdown runs was a spectacular 41-yard touchdown run by Kaleb Ham up the middle of the field.
As both teams settled down, the defenses took over and the game became more of a defensive battle for the rest of the first half. The Patriots made a key goal-line stand at the very end of the first half as they held back the Summit offense, with an exclamation-point quarterback sack by Hugo de los Santos as the clock ran out.
The second half began with some offensive fireworks as the Patriots received the kickoff and then made the most of their opportunities with a 31-yard run by Kaleb Ham quickly followed by a 9-yard touchdown pass from Nathan Harris to Zach Lowe. When the Patriots returned to defense, they held Summit to 18 yards on their drive and then forced a fumble, which Zach Lowe recovered. Kaleb Ham then got the call on the first offensive play after the fumble recovery and made the most of it by running 30 yards for another touchdown. Summit moved the ball effectively on their next drive as they drove the football all the way down to the Patriot’s 5-yard-line. Unfortunately for the Summit team, Elijah Arnold came up with a well-placed hit on the play forcing a fumble which Kaleb Ham immediately pounced on.
At the beginning of the 4th quarter, the Patriots ran a misdirection play in which Elijah Arnold, playing at guard, received the handoff. He hit the defensive end, broke the tackle, rumbling toward the end zone. After 25 yards Elijah was greeted by a Summit defender stepping in his path. Elijah decided that basic geometry applied in this case (the shortest distance between two points is a straight line) and ran over the defender, and also ran over two other defenders for the last five yards as he drove himself into the end zone. To add more excitement to the end of the game for the Patriots, John Harvey, playing at defensive back, showed excellent pass coverage as he stepped in front of a Summit pass on their next drive, caught it and ran it back untouched 40 yards for the last touchdown.
The Patriot special team, led by Kaleb Ham at kicker, converted 5 of 5 PAT attempts, which set a Patriots’ record for most converted PATs in a game. Stephen Burbank led Patriot defenders with 3 solo tackles, 3 assisted tackles, and one assist. Kaleb Ham had 3 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles, and Elijah Arnold had 2 solo tackles, 1 assisted tackles, and 1 assist. Shawn Finley, Jason Gentry, Troy Chesnut, William Liffick, Hugo de los Santos, Justin Jacobs, Zach Lowe, Ben Holliday, and Andrew Kearse all recorded either a tackle or assist in the game.
This game concludes the 2007 FEAST Patriots’ Middle School season with an overall record of 7-1. The Patriots’ coaching staff would like to wish all of our departing players all the best, and thanks to all who supported us throughout this season. The coaches would also like to acknowledge the Christ-like attitude and performance throughout the season by both players and fans. Thank you so much for the support! Go Patriots!

This past weekend both FEAST high school football teams traveled down to Corpus Christi to take on the CCACA Warriors. Both teams were able to defend their current season undefeated records with the Varsity winning by the score of 58-14 and the JV coming home with a 35-14 victory.

| Varsity vs. Corpus Christi Annapolis Christian Academy |
| Click here for Summary Stats |
Corpus Christi, Texas – the outcome of the game was never in doubt as the Varsity jumped out to a 24-6 lead in the first quarter behind the passing and running of junior quarterback Josh Leininger (5-104 yds. rushing, 17-9-0 157 yds. passing, 2 tackles, 6 TDs) and never looked back. Three quarters and 7 touchdowns later the Patriots walked off the field with a 58-14 victory raising their 2007 record to 7-0.
The game was not without its excitement as senior tailback John Dana (4-37 yds. rushing, 3-56 yds. receiving, 5 tackles, 2 for loss, 2 TDs) turned into a receiver catching 3 Leininger passes and turning two of them into touchdowns. Junior receiver Brandon Huber (2-40 yds. receiving, 5 tackles, 1 int., 1 TD) also turned in a productive day as the team welcomed him back from a two game hiatus due to a sprained ankle. Senior readback Kevin “BK” Ebersole (3-15 yds. rushing, 2-18 yds. receiving, 7 tackles, 1 TD) also got in some work as he collected one TD on a Leininger pass. Freshman tailback Ruben Rogerio (1-13 yds. rushing, 1-22 yds. receiving, 1 tackle, 1 fumble caused, 1 TD) also lit up the scoreboard with a touchdown run that left 3 Warrior defenders in his wake.
On defense, senior Luke Macias (17 tackles, 1 for loss, 1 fumble recovered) lead all tacklers and had another strong day as the team’s return specialist, just missing a 70 yard kickoff return for a TD when the play was called back on a questionable penalty. but the day belonged to the entire defensive front of senior defensive end Michael Bakke (1-4 yds. rushing, 9 tackles, 1 for loss, 1 qb force, 1 qb sack), defensive end Dana, senior mike Roman Rogerio (7 tackles, 1 for loss), sophomore mike Jamie Bakke (2-30 yds. receiving, 5 tackles, 1 qb force, 1 TD), sophomore defensive end Michael Burbank (1-13 yds. receiving, 7 tackles, 1 fumble caused, 1 qb force), senior cornerback Ebersole, and freshman cornerback Max Clark (3-(11) yds. rushing, 3-2-0 22 yds. passing, 1 tackle, 1 int.) who repeatedly turned back the Warrior offense.
The first quarter opened with both teams getting off to a rocky start. However, it was the Warriors who struck first on a 4 yard run to end a 7 play drive. The Patriots did not wait long to turn things around as they scored on the first play of their next two offensive possessions quickly moving ahead 16-6. The Patriots widened their lead as they scored on their next two possessions, finally closing out the first half ahead 38-14.
The Varsity scored 3 more times in the 3rd and 4th quarters while holding their opponent scoreless.
Corpus Christi, Texas – Following in the footsteps of the Varsity, the Patriots Junior Varsity, riding on the shoulders of an outstanding offensive performance by freshman tailback Ruben Rogerio (9-168 yds. rushing, 1-1-0 6 yds. passing, 5 tackles, 1 qb force, 4 TDs), took home another victory. This time a 35-14 win over the CCACA Warriors junior varsity.
Unlike the Varsity, the Junior Patriots needed more of the first half to wake up from the long drive down and put their playing helmets on. Leading by only 1 point at the end of the first quarter, the JV was only able to score 2 more touchdowns in the next two quarters before putting the game out of reach with a strong 4th quarter performance.
Rogerio had another outstanding day working behind the blocking of team mates sophomore center Phillip Graham, sophomore end Luke Colyer (1-23 yds. rushing, 8 tackles, 2 for loss, 2 qb forces) freshman end Josh Hogan (5 tackles, 1 broken pass), sophomore end Kevin Pena (1-14 yds. rushing, 1-7 yds. receiving, 7 tackles, 1 TD) and sophomore readback Aaron Macias (5-66 yds. rushing, 1-6 yds. receiving, 7 tackles, 1 broken pass, 1 int.).
On defense freshman cornerback Caleb Miller (2-(17) yds. rushing, 4-1-0 7 passing, 9 tackles, 1 TD) lead all tacklers, but he was not alone. Freshman defensive end Cody DeBarge (7 tackles, 1 for loss, 1 blocked extra point) turned in a strong performance while new comer, freshman defensive end Alex Baca (1 tackle) recorded his first tackle.
Like the Varsity game, the JV game did not start out in the Patriots favor. The Warriors were again first on the score board and lead the Patriots by a score of 0-6 before Rogerio and the offense decided to take over with a 60 yard run to pay dirt. Rogerio crossed the goal line two more times in the second quarter as the Patriots closed out the first half leading 21-6.
But this is sixman football and a 15 point lead is too close for comfort. After both teams went scoreless in the 3rd quarter, the Patriots offensive again took the bit and put 14 more points on the board. The first being yet another Rogerio run and the second being a 14 yard scamper by Pena. It should be noted that Pena’s touchdown was ably assisted by a 23 yard weaving ramble by Colyer to set up the score.
Next Week Games:
Next up for both the Varsity and Junior Varsity will be the Eagles of the Winston School of San Antonio. The Junior Varsity will kick off at 5:00 PM on Thursday evening, October 25th. The Varsity will look to extend their unbeaten record on Friday, October 26th with a 7:30 PM kick off. Both games will be at the Winston Stadium just behind the Winston School at 8565 Ewing Halsell near the Medical Center in San Antonio. If possible come on out to one of the games and catch the excitement of Patriot Football!
Prairie Lea, Texas – The Patriot football team rallied in the second quarter and went on to earn their 6th straight victory against the Covenant Christian School of Cedar Creek in Prairie Lea last Friday night by the score of 45-0. This week’s win improves their 2007 record to 6-0. The Patriots will face the Corpus Christi Annapolis Warriors in Corpus Christi next Saturday.
FEAST led Covenant 24-0 at halftime, as the Patriots scored three rushing touchdowns and a safety in the first half. Upon receiving the opening kickoff freshman quarterback Anthony Huber (4-20 yds. rushing, 2 tackles, 2 TDs) raced 51 yards to the opponent’s 12 yard line. Two plays later Huber stuck pay dirt with an 11 yard run. The PAT kick by junior quarterback Josh Leininger (6-56 yds. rushing, 6-3-0 64 yds. passing, 1 tackles, 1 blocked pass, 1 TD) was good and the Patriots jumped into the lead 8-0. After that quick start defense became the focal point as the Patriots held the Covenant to no first downs for the remainder of the quarter but were also unable to manage another score.
As the second period opened, senior defensive end John Dana (4-37 yds. rushing, 1-1-0 6 yds. passing, 2-44 yds. receiving, 8 tackles, 3 for loss, 5 qb forces, 1 TD), who was to shine on both sides of the ball, came up with a big 4th down tackle for loss giving FEAST the ball on Covenant’s 8 yard line. Senior readback Kevin Ebersole (3-(12) yds. rushing, 2-26 yds. receiving, 3 tackles) carried down to the 1 on the first play. Dana was given scoring honors on the next play as the Patriots took a 14-0 lead.
Once again the Patriot defense took over by giving the offense back the ball on Covenant’s 36 yard line. Ebersole quickly advanced the ball to the opponent’s 23 yard line with a crowd pleasing “ping-pong ball” run up and down the field. Three plays later Leininger scampered 23 yards giving the Patriots a 22-0 lead.
After the kick off, Covenant took over on their 19 yard line. On the first play from scrimmage, junior defensive end Michael Bakke (8 tackles, 1 fumble caused, 4 qb forces, 1 safety) chased the Covenant running back into the end zone and got the tackle for a safety. Late in the half the Patriot’s “bend but do not break” defense consisting of ends Dana and Bakke, senior mike Roman Rogerio (2-15 yds. rushing, 6 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 TD), senior striker Luke Macias (6 tackles, 2 for loss), and cornerbacks senior Ebersole and freshman Max Clark (3-1-0 20 yds. passing, 5 tackles, 1 int., 1 TD) once again stopped a Covenant drive that had reached the Patriot’s 1 yard line by driving their opponents all the way back to mid field on a series of outstanding defensive plays.
After kicking off to Covenant to open the second half and holding them on downs, the Patriot offense took over on Covenant’s 26. Dana promptly ran the ball to the 9 and Huber carried in over to raise the score to 32-0. Even though Luke Macias recovered the following onsides kick off, the Patriots fumbled the ball away giving setting up the first of two Patriot interceptions for the evening. Two plays later Clark picked off a Covenant pass returning it 18 yards to the Covenant 23 yard line.
Clark taking over at quarterback, 3 plays later threw a 19 yard scoring strike to junior end Jonathan Navarrete (1-20, 1 TD) moving the score to 39-0 after a Huber to Leininger PAT pass play. Two possessions later, and after a dramatic interception by freshman defensive end Aaron Macias (1-2 yds. rushing, 3 tackles, 1 for loss, 1 qb sack,1 int.), the Patriots ended the game with 3:21 left in the third quarter as Roman Rogerio bulled his way 9 yards into the end zone to put the Patriots up 45-0.
The Patriot defense played an outstanding game holding their opponent to a negative 28 yards rushing and only 46 yards in the air. More importantly they gave the offense great field position throughout the game.
San Antonio - For the second time this season the Patriot Junior Varsity met on the field the Panthers of Tafolla Charter School of Uvalde. The game was played at Patriot Field on Saturday, October 13th and was a bitter sweet victory. While the team came off the field with the winning score of 30-8 to keep their undefeated 2007 record alive, we were saddened by the loss of outstanding freshman quarterback/cornerback Anthony Huber who broke his left leg on the second play from scrimmage. The good news is Anthony’s leg has been set and he is beginning his recovery period of 8 to 10 weeks with not complications to date. The sad news is that he will be sorely missed for the remainder of the season. There is no way to replace the loss of a player like Anthony, you just try and begin filling the holes as best you can.
After Anthony’s injury, his teammates drove down the field to close out their first possession with a touchdown on a 6 yard freshman quarterback Caleb Miller (5-40 yds. rushing, 9-4-1 82 yds. passing, 7 tackles, 1 fumble caused, 2 TDs) to freshman end Josh Hogan (1-6 yds. receiving, 2 tackles, 2 qb forces, 1 fumble recovered, 1 TD) pass. After Miller’s successful PAT kick the Patriots were up by 8 points and this is how the first quarter ended.
As the second quarter opened, the Patriots were in possession of the football on their own 25 yard line. Ten plays later, behind the rushing of freshman tailback Ruben Rogerio (9-86 yds. rushing, 5 tackles, 1 TD) and passing of Miller, the Patriots upped the score to 14-0 as Rogerio scored on untouched on an 8 yard run behind the blocking of sophomore center Phillip Graham (1 tackle), sophomore end Kevin Pena (2-40 yds. receiving) and Hogan.
The second half opened with the Patriots kicking off to the Panthers who returned the ball to their own 30 yard line. Unfortunately for the Panthers, three plays later freshman cornerback Max Clark (2-1-0 25 yds. passing, 5 tackles, 2 ints.) brought their offensive drive to a quick halt with an interception and 10 yard return setting the Patriot offense up on their own 15 yard line. Over the next 5 plays the Patriots were able to drive the ball to the Tafolla 18, 36 yards of which were on a weaving dart by Rogerio; but were not able to take the ball across the goal line.
The teams exchanged the ball 2 more times and the fourth quarter opened with your Patriots in the lead by the score of 14-0, but not for long. As on their next possession freshman readback Aaron Macias (5-82 yds. rushing, 12 tackles, 1 TD) took the ball on the Patriot 18 yard line on a sweep to the right, changed direction and raced untouched 63 yards for a touchdown. After the successful PAT kick by Miller the Patriots had extended their lead to 22-0.
But there was more to come. On the ensuing kick off Miller knocked the ball from the Panther ball carrier which was quickly pounced on by an alert sophomore defensive end Luke Colyer (5 tackles, 1 fumble recovery). The Patriots were in possession of the ball on their opponent’s 24 yard line. Two plays later Miller connected with freshman end Cody DeBarge (1-25 yds. receiving, 1 fumble caused, 1 TD) on a 25 yard pass play to close out the Patriot scoring for the day. The Panthers were able to score on their next possession as the whistle sounded to end the game, but it was too little too late. The Junior Varsity had secured the score of 30-6.
Next Week Games:
Next up for both the Varsity and Junior Varsity will be the Warriors of Corpus Christi Annapolis Christian Academy. Both games are scheduled for Saturday, October 20th in Corpus Christi. The following week both teams will play the Winston School of San Antonio Eagles in San Antonio. The Junior Varsity game will be Thursday evening October 25th with the Varsity playing on Friday, October 26th. If possible come on out to one of the games and catch the excitement of Patriot Football!
FEAST Middle School Patriots vs. Kerrville Notre Dame
October 11, 2007 |
The FEAST Middle School Patriot football team, competing for sole possession of 2nd place in the Central Texas Football Conference - Southern Division, beat Kerrville Notre Dame by a score of 42-13. The Patriots came out strong in the first half, leading the Irish with a 28-0 lead and kept the pressure applied to their opponent through the second half. With this win, the Patriots finished their regular season with an excellent 6-1 record.
Jason Gentry had his finest offensive day as a Patriot as he ran the ball nine times for 67 yards and three touchdowns. Kaleb Ham had a solid day as well with eight carries for 86 yards and one touchdown. Stephen Burbank carried the ball once for 19 yards and Nathan Harris carried the ball twice for 15 yards.
Quarterback Nathan Harris completed all four of his passes for a total of 59 yards, including one touchdown pass for 11 yards to Zach Lowe. Stephen Burbank caught two passes for 26 yards as well.
Zach Lowe also had his finest day on defense, in which he set the Patriot record for solo tackles with eight. Lowe also posted two assisted tackles and one fumble recovery as well. Stephen Burbank also had a solid day with two solo tackles and five assisted tackles. Ben Holliday had three solo tackles and three assisted tackles, and Jason Gentry made two solo tackles and three assisted tackles. William Liffick, Andrew Kearse, Justin Jacobs, Nathan Harris, Kaleb Ham, Shawn Finley, Pete-Eric Cutting, Troy Chesnut and Elijah Arnold all posted at least one solo tackle and one assisted tackle.
The Patriots will play the Northern Division 2nd place winner, Summit Christian School, on Saturday, October 27th for the Central Texas Middle School Six-Man Football Conference 3rd Place award. The game will be at Prairie Lea High School, with a tentative start time of 6:00 p.m.
The Notre Dame game was the last home game for some of our players. Stephen Burbank, Zach Lowe, William Liffick, Justin Jacobs, Jason Gentry, Pete-Eric Cutting and Andrew Rockefeller finished their last year of eligibility with the middle school team. We thank them for their leadership and Christ-like example for our team and to the other teams that we have played, and we wish them well as they join the high school ranks next year.
Week 5 Game Results:
Varsity vs. Apple Springs
|
Posted: October 8, 2007 |
Bryan/College Station – On Thursday, October 4th, the FEAST Patriots Varsity Football team made the long trek to Allen Christian Academy’s football stadium in Bryan, Texas to play the Eagles of Apple Springs High School. The game was touted to be the toughest test the team had faced since playing the Austin Christian Homeschool Cougars for the last game of the 2006 regular season. Apple Springs entered the contest bearing the same “undefeated” label as the Patriots. Kick off was at 6:00 PM and both teams were ready when the appointed hour arrived.
After three hours and a wild offensive display by both teams, consisting of 16 touchdowns, the Patriots were still proud possessors of an unsullied record. The final score of 65 to 46 in FEAST’s favor does not really do justice to the excitement and heart stopping drama generated by these two offensive minded teams last Thursday night.
The Eagles struck first early in the first quarter as their defense returned the first of two interceptions of junior quarterback Josh Leininger’s (13-186 yds. rushing, 14-8-2 154 yds. passing, 1 tackle, 4 TDs) passes for touchdowns. While FEAST quickly evened the score when senior tailback John Dana (3-1 yd. rushing, 2-2-0 19 yds. passing, 1-5 yds. receiving, 6 tackles, 1 fumble caused, 2 qb forces, 1 TD) crossed over the goal line for the first of seven FEAST touchdowns, the Eagles were able to close out a relatively quite first quarter leading 14 to 8.
The fireworks really took off in the second quarter as the two teams scored a compiled 6 touchdowns. Freshman tailback Ruben Rogerio (7-74 yds. rushing, 1-1-0 9 yds. passing, 1 tackle, 1 broken pass, 3 TDs) and Leininger both scored on the ground for FEAST; but Apple Springs answered back with 4 scores of their own leaving the Patriots looking out of a deep hole as the first half ended with the Eagles firmly in command by the score of 40 to 23.
But your Patriots were far from being down and out. As the third quarter was played out, both teams’ defenses tightened up with the balance in favor of the Patriots. Leininger, behind outstanding blocking and play from sophomore center Jamie Bakke (2-39 yds. receiving, 1 TD), junior end Jonathan Navarrete and senior ends Michael Bakke (2-46 yds. receiving) and Roman Rogerio (1-38 yds. receiving, 7 tackles, 1 fumble recovery), scored two more times. During this same time the defense held the Eagles to only one touchdown. As the third period came to a close the Patriots had closed the deficit to 9 points, 46 to 37.
Urged on by their offensive cohorts the Patriot defense, consisting of senior defensive ends Dana and Luke Macias (14 tackles), freshman defensive ends Aaron Macias (7 tackles 2 qb forces, 1 qb sack) and Caleb Miller (1-(1) yd. receiving, 4 tackles), linebacker Roman Rogerio and defensive backs senior Kevin Ebersole (1-(3) yds. rushing, 1-9 yds. receiving, 9 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) and freshmen Ruben Rogerio, Anthony Huber (4-17 yds. rushing, 5-62 yds. receiving, 4 tackles, 1 qb sack) and Max Clark (1-(6) yds. rushing, 5-2-0 16 yds. passing, 14 tackles, 1 fumble caused, 2 ints.) closed ranks and completely shut down the Eagle offense. At the same time the offense closed out the game with four unanswered touchdowns, two on the ground by Ruben Rogerio, and two through the air (Dana to Huber and Leininger to Jamie Bakke), to complete the comeback and win the game going away by a score of 65 to 46. At last tally after falling behind by 17 points during the first half your Patriots had come back in the second have and outscored their opponents 42 to 6!
San Antonio – Following the lead of the Varsity, your FEAST Junior Varsity football team delivered their third victory of the 2007 season with a convincing 65 to 26 win over the River City Christian Chargers. What made the victory so special was that every one of the 8 players who suited up for the game contributed, in some fashion, to the final score.
After receiving the opening kickoff, freshman quarterback Anthony Huber (4-78 yds. rushing, 13-9-0 184 yds. passing, 7 tackles, 1 qb force, 7 TDs) broke free on the second play from scrimmage and wove his way down the field 55 yards for the first of 9 Patriot touchdowns. Shortly after that freshman defensive back Caleb Miller (4-1-1 27 yds. passing, 1-21 yds. receiving, 8 tackles, 1 int., 2 TDs) picked off a Charger pass and returned it 60 yards for a second Patriot score. Freshman offensive end Josh Hogan (3-6 yds. rushing, 8 tackles, 1 qb sack, 1 int., 1 TD) capped the next offensive drive with a 1 yard end counter run for the third Patriot score of the quarter. This was quickly followed by a safety from freshman defensive end Cody DeBarge (4-25 yds. rushing, 2-35 yds. receiving, 6 tackles, 1 qb force, 1 safety) during the next Charger possession to close out the first quarter of Patriot scoring with the Junior Varsity leading 24-0.
Sophomore center Phillip Graham (3-14 yds. rushing, 1-4 receiving, 3 tackles, 1 TD) got onto the “scoring train” when he caught a 4 yard TD strike from Huber as the second quarter got underway. After the kickoff, the Chargers were able to put their first points on the board and close the Patriots lead. But the Patriot offensive juggernaut, lead this time by sophomore offensive end Kevin Pena (4-27 yds. rushing, 3-54 yds. receiving, 5 tackles, 2 TDs) and quarterback Huber on a 2 yard pass and catch, roared right back and closed out the first half of Patriot scoring.
The third quarter was all Chargers as they scored twice to cut the Patriots lead to 37-20. But the Patriots took over once again as the fourth quarter opened as sophomore offensive end Luke Colyer (4-(1) yds. rushing, 2-35 yds. receiving, 5 tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 TD) broke into the open just in time to catch another TD strike from Huber; this one for 9 yards. Not to be left out of the fun, freshman tailback Aaron Macias (4-24 yds. rushing, 2-64 yds. receiving, 9 tackles, 1 TD) was next up as he hauled in yet another Huber pass, this one for a 60 yard TD.
The Chargers got back on the scoreboard once again with a 29 yard touchdown pass. But this was too little too late as the Patriots scored two more times. First up was Caleb Miller who brought in a 21 yard Huber pass. Followed shortly by another Huber to Pena TD scoring launch of 25 yards.
All in all, Anthony Huber turned in an outstanding performance as he passed for 5 touchdowns and ran for another. On defense all of the Junior Varsity played well as they were able to hold the River City offense to only 219 yards on a total of 49 offensive plays. This is less than 5 yards per down which is quite a feat for six man football. In addition, Miller and Hogan each collected one interception while the defense recorded 7 tackles for a loss.
Next Week
Next week the Varsity will again travel to Prairie Lea, this time to play the Covenant Christian School Tribe. The game will begin at 7:30 PM on Friday, October 12th. The Junior Varsity will follow on Saturday, October 13th with a return match against Tafolla Charter School at FEAST’s Patriot field beginning at 11:00 AM.
We hope homeschool families in the greater San Antonio area will take the opportunity to come and see one of these games and support our homeschool teams.
Prairie Lea – It was a magnificent Friday night in Prairie Lea, Texas with a true “harvest moon” rising over the stadium as the FEAST Patriots and BV CHEA Mustangs met in a battle of two home school football teams. While the Patriots were pre-game favorites by 20 points, the Mustangs were having none of that and were determined to reverse the outcome of the two team’s previous meetings with a victory. And much to the Patriot’s chagrin the Mustangs almost carried it off. While your Patriots came out on the winning side, by the small margin of 24-20, each team member came off the field knowing this had been one tough football battle!
The evening opened with both teams playing strong defense. Lead by senior defensive ends Michael Bakke (5 tackles, 2 qb forces, 1 fumble caused) and John Dana (9-37 yds. rushing, 7 tackles, 1 TD), senior linebacker Roman Rogerio (11 tackles, 2 for losses) and freshmen defensive backs Ruben Rogerio (14-118 yds. rushing, 8 tackles, 1 qb force, 1 fumble caused, 1 broken pass, 2 TDs), Anthony Huber (1-1 yd. Rushing, 13 tackles) and Max Clark (12 tackles, 3 broken passes, 1 int.), the Patriots were able to thwart anything the Mustangs threw at them. However, the Mustangs defense, lead by senior linebacker Brandon Magee and cornerbacks John Kamas and Derek Duke, were just as effective in stopping the Patriot offense. And to add to the Patriot’s problems junior tailback, Brandon Huber (1 tackle), hobbled off the field after the second play with a seriously sprained ankle. With both teams playing strong defense, the first quarter ended in a 0-0 tie score.
The Patriots were finally able to get on the scoreboard early in the second period when John Dana, running behind the blocking of ends sophomore Michael Burbank (1-7 yds. receiving, 3 tackles, 1 TD) and junior Michael Bakke and center sophomore Jamie Bakke (1-13 yds. receiving, 2 tackles, 1 for loss), broke free for a 9 yard touchdown run. The PAT was no good but the Patriots had drawn first blood leading 6-0. However, the Mustangs struck right back as Brandon Magee ended a long drive with a 4 yard run for the tying touchdown. As the first half clock was ticking down, FEAST was able to mount one more scoring drive, this time through the air as offensive end Michael Burbank pulled in a 15 yard pass from junior quarterback Josh Leininger (7-57 yds, rushing, 9-3-0 33 yds. passing, 1 tackle, 1 TD) to put the Patriots up 12 to 6 as the first half ended.
To the Patriot’s dismay, the CHEA Mustangs “owned” the first half of the third quarter scoring two times to go up 20-12 over the Patriots. The first score was a 20 yard pass from quarterback John Kamas to tailback Daniel Mayo. This was followed by another Kamas to Mayo pass, this time for six yards. But the Patriots were just beginning to fight back. After a pass interception by Max Clark the Patriots unleashed their new offensive weapon, freshman Ruben Rogerio, who, behind the blocking of senior readback Kevin Ebersole (4-8 yds. rushing, 2 tackles), took the ball down the field scoring on a tough 2 yard run as the third quarter came to a close.
As the fourth quarter opened with the Patriots trailing 18-20, fans from both teams were on their feet to see who would come out victorious in the end. On the field the players were beginning to suffer from fatigue as the unusually humid and hot night wore on. Fortunately for the Patriots Rogerio and the rest of the offense were not finished yet. The defense held tough, stopping the Mustangs and allowing the offense to regain the ball on the Patriot’s 20 yard line. Two plays Rogerio burst through the left side of the line and streaked down the visitor’s sideline for a 51 yard scoring scamper! While we did not know it at the time, this would prove to be the margin of victory as the Patriots regained the lead 24-20. Now it was time for the defense to take over, and that is just what they did. The defense held and forced CHEA to punt allowing the offense to take over the ball and run down the clock to 22 seconds before having to punt the ball back to the Mustangs. Two desperate “Hail Mary” passes later and the FEAST varsity was able to stretch its 2007 record to 4-0.
Both teams played hard nosed football and the Patriots had to work to get every yard. These two teams will meet again later in the second week of November at the second annual IronMan Playoff competition. The rematch should be something to watch!
San Antonio – The FEAST Junior Varsity football team played their second game of the season on Saturday, September 29th against the Panthers of Tafolla Charter School. The Panthers, driving in from Uvalde, Texas are a first year varsity team.
Your junior Patriots quickly took control of the game scoring four unanswered touchdowns in the first and second period while the defense was able to hold back their opponents. Freshman tailback Aaron Macias (6-29 yds. rushing, 1-42 yds. receiving, 10 tackles, 1 broken pass, 2 ints., 1 TD) scored first on a 2 yard burst. This was followed shortly by a 26 yard scoring blast from freshman tailback Ruben Rogerio (4-124 yds. rushing, 2-1-0 42 yds. passing, 7 tackles, 1 qb sack, 3 TDs). After Rogerio opened the second quarter with another scoring traipse, this one for 32 yards, it was time for the Caleb Miller (6-100 rushing, 5-3-0 48 yds. passing, 1-1 yd. receiving, 5 tackles, 2 ints., 5 TDs) show.
After closing out the first half scoring with a 1 yard run, freshman quarterback and readback Miller was directly involved in four of the Patriots next five scoring drives. Of course no one can succeed on the football field all alone and Caleb is no exception. All of his offensive fireworks were accomplished as the result of the hard work of sophomore center Philip Graham (1 tackle); offensive ends sophomores Luke Colyer (1-4 rushing, 2-19 yds. receiving, 4 tackles, 2 qb forces) and Kevin Pena (2-4 yds. rushing, 1-9 yds. receiving, 2 tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 TD), offensive end freshman Josh Hogan (1-11 yds. receiving, 4 tackles, 2 qb forces), tailbacks freshmen Anthony Huber (6-14 yds. rushing,10-3-1 28 yds. passing, 1-36 yds. receiving, 13 tackles, 1 fumble caused, 1 TD) and Aaron Macias and freshman Cody DeBarge (1 tackle).
The second half opened with Miller scoring on a 34 yard scamper to pay dirt. This was followed by a 49 yard touchdown run by the Panthers #7. Which, in turn, was matched by Miller’s next TD gallop, this time a 42 yarder. The Panthers came right back with two more scores followed by another Rogerio touchdown blast (49 yards this time). Tired yet?
With the score standing 44-18 in favor of the Patriots and after a 6 touchdown third quarter, both teams were pretty worn out as the fourth quarter opened. But the Patriots, with Miller leading the way, were able to put 12 more points on the board before calling it a day. This time through the air. First being a 9 yard pass from Miller to Kevin Pena. The second was a 36 yard scoring strike from Miller to Anthony Huber. Final score FEAST 56, Tafolla CS 18!
Next Week
Next up for the Varsity are the Eagles of Apple Springs High School. The game will be played in Bryan, Texas at the Allen Academy stadium beginning at 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 4th. The Eagles are currently undefeated and will be the Patriots most difficult challenge so far this season.
On Saturday, October 6th, the Junior Varsity will take the field against the River City Christian School Crusaders. The game will be played at River City’s Blanco Road field beginning at 11:00 AM.
Middle School vs. Lifegate Christian
(September 27, 2007)
|
Posted: October 2, 2007 |
The Patriots went on the road to Seguin to play Lifegate Christian in a key conference game, and won in convincing fashion, 82-36. Not only was it a record score, but other team records were recorded.
Pete-Eric Cutting returned one kickoff for 75 yards and a touchdown, while Nathan Harris threw to Elijah Arnold for
a 60-yard touchdown play as well, both Patriots’ records. Nathan Harris was 10-9-0 in passing for 114
yards and three touchdowns, including two to Stephen Burbank and the pass to Arnold. Jason Gentry had an
outstanding day, rushing twice for 46 yards and one touchdown, while Kaleb Ham carried the ball twice for 38 yards
and one touchdown. Troy Chesnut ran four times for 33 yards and one touchdown as well.
Troy Chesnut and Pete-Eric Cutting led the team in tackles, as both players recorded two unassisted tackles and two
assisted tackles. Ben Holliday wasn’t too far behind as he recorded two unassisted tackles and one
assisted tackle. Chesnut and Holliday each recorded a fumble recovery as well. William Liffick recorded
another kickoff return for a touchdown, while Elijah Arnold recorded his first punt return for a touchdown.
On the kicking end, Kaleb Ham was able to connect on two of four PAT kicks for an added scoring boost.
The Patriots will play next Thursday, October 4th in a conference game against Buckner Fanning Christian School
at home at 5:00 p.m. Come and support your Patriots
FEAST “B” Patriots vs. Sts. Peter & Paul
(September 25, 2007)
|
Posted: October 2, 2007 |
The Patriots played their second game against Sts. Peter & Paul at home. Despite a couple of new additions on the visitors’ team which gave them much more size and strength, the Patriots played valiantly on both offense and defense. However, Sts. Peter & Paul was too much to handle, and the Patriots fell short in a very competitive game, 12-21.
John Harvey played well at quarterback, including a 54-yard touchdown pass to Nathan Harris. The second touchdown was scored by Ben Holliday on a long run to the outside. The defense, led by Holliday, Troy Chesnut and John Harvey, posed a great deal of trouble for the visitors as well.
Ramsey Sweatmon recorded his first unassisted tackle, while Justin Jacobs recorded three tackles at defensive end – a personal best. Many of the players performed well, including Travis Orr, Jacob Whiten, and William de los Santos.
The Minutemen “B” team will finish their short season on the road against Hill Country Christian School of Austin on Tuesday, October 2nd at 4:00 p.m. Although the win-loss record doesn’t reflect the effort that the players have given, the team has done an outstanding job against teams that are bigger, stronger and generally more experienced. Good job, Minutemen!

San Antonio – With the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams combining for the week end, your Patriot football teams completed a full weekend of football with victories against the New Braunfels Christian Academy Wildcats and Christian Academy of San Antonio Rams. The first game was a 53-12 victory played Friday evening September 21st at Patriot Field. This had the distinction of being our first “under the lights” game on our home field! The second game was played the next day, Saturday September 22nd, also resulting in a 55-19 Patriot victory.
For FEAST football fans it was a true double header. We want to thank all of the people who came out to the games and want to give a special “thank you” to all the parents and family members who graciously volunteered their time to help with the many chores required to “produce” home football games.
Patriots vs. Wildcats:

Up first for the Patriots were the NBCA Wildcats, coached by first year coach Jim Bergeron. The Patriots and Wildcats had always played tough close games in the past. But this year the team made sure that the outcome was never in doubt as they scored five unanswered touchdowns and a safety in the first half. Everyone got in on the scoring as five different Patriots took turns crossing the goal line. First up was junior tailback Brandon Huber (7-78 yds. rushing, 2 tackles, 2 TDs) with a 20 yard run. He was followed in turn by senior readback Kevin Ebersole (3-19 yds. rushing, 1TD) on a 5 yard scamper; senior return specialist Luke Macias (2-20 yds. rushing, 91 return yds., 3 tackles, 1 int., 1 TD) on a spectacular 75 yard weaving return of the free kick following a team safety; next up was senior tailback John Dana (3-39 yds. rushing, 3 tackles, 1 TD) with a 27 yard sprint; and freshman cornerback Max Clark (1-9 yds. rushing, 1 int., 1 TD) closed out the first half scoring with a 10 yard touchdown return of an interception.
The Wildcats, not giving up, came out strong in the second half reaching pay dirt twice to narrow the score to 40-12 Patriots. However, the Patriots answered right back as sophomore end Michael Burbank (1-25 yds. receiving, 1 tackle, 1 TD) gathered in a 25 yard pass from junior quarterback Josh Leininger (3-1-0 25 yds. passing, 1 TD) for another Patriot touchdown. Brandon Huber closed out the Patriots scoring in the fourth quarter with a 16 yard scoring run.
Holding the Wildcats to only 4 first downs for the game was a strong Patriot defense lead by senior defensive end Michael Bakke (2 tackles, 3 qb forces, 1 qb sack), senior middle linebacker Roman Rogerio (6 tackles, 1 fumble caused), senior defensive end John Dana, freshman cornerback Anthony Huber (1-10 yds. rushing, 9 tackles), freshman cornerback Ruben Rogerio (7 tackles, 1 qb force) and freshman cornerback Aaron Macias (2-11 yds. rushing, 3 tackles). Sophomore nose guard Phillip Graham (3 tackles) also gained special recognition when he dropped Wildcat backs on three successive plays.
Patriots vs. Rams:
Up next for the Patriots were the CASA Rams. While the “players” were different the outcome was the same; a convincing Patriot victory. Your Patriots extended their 2007 season record to 3-0 with a 55-19 victory.
Leading the first half charge were sophomore end Michael Burbank (3-62 yds. receiving, 2 tackles, 3 TDs) and junior quarterback Josh Leininger (3-52 yds. rushing, 10-5-1 121 yds. passing, 2 tackles, 5 TDs) who combined for three first half aerial pay dirt strikes of 14, 28 and 20 yards. With freshman Ruben Rogerio (7-20 yds. rushing, 1-5 yds. receiving, 2 tackles, 1 TD) also adding his scoring contribution, the Patriots closed out the first half with a 30-0 lead.
However, just like the night before, the CASA Rams had no intention of giving up and came out strong in the second half. Halfback Bobby Ramirez scored first with a 68 yard return of the second half opening kick off. This was quickly followed by a 41 yard scoring pass from quarterback Ray De los Santos to end Jonathan Perez. Closing the score to 30-13 in favor of the Patriots.
After the ensuing kick off the Patriots closed out the third quarter of the game by driving down the field behind the blocking of junior end Jonathon Navarrete (1 tackle, 2 qb forces, 1 qb sack), sophomore center Jamie Bakke (2-25 yds. receiving, 1 tackle, 1 qb sack) and sophomore end Luke Colyer (1-1 yd. receiving, 1 TD) to score on a 1 yard pass from freshman quarterback Anthony Huber (1-1-0 1 yd. passing, 3 tackles) to Colyer.
The fourth quarter found your Patriots once again in control of the ball after a strong “three and out” defensive display by senior defensive end Michael Bakke (3 tackles, 3 qb forces, 1 qb sack), senior defensive end John Dana (2 tackles, 2 qb forces), senior middle linebacker Roman Rogerio (2 tackles), senior striker Luke Macias (13 return yds., 13 tackles, 1 int.), junior safety Brandon Huber (4-15 yds. rushing, 1-45 yds. receiving, 8 tackles, 1 qb sack, 1 int., 1 TD) and senior cornerback Kevin Ebersole (3 tackles, 1 fumble recovered). Both teams exchanged scores as Leininger threw another scoring strike, this time 45 yards to Brandon Huber, and the Rams responded when defensive back Stanley Hood picked off a Leininger pass and returned it 22 yards for the third Ram touchdown.
The Patriots, not to be denied, closed out the scoring as Leininger crossed the goal line on a 24 yard scamper and freshman Caleb Miller (4-40 yds. rushing, 3-0-1 0 yds. passing, 1 TD) made a leaping catch of freshman quarterback Max Clark’s ( 3-48 yds. rushing, 6-3-1 40 yds. passing, 1 tackle, 1 int., 1 TD) 24 yard pass.
Once again the Patriot’s defense put on a strong showing by holding the Rams to only 31 combined yards of passing and rushing offense. Contributors to this team effort included freshman Cody DeBarge (1 tackle), freshman Ruben Rogerio, sophomore Kevin Pena (1 tackle), freshman Josh Hogan (1 tackle), freshman Aaron Macias (4-39 yds. rushing), sophomore Phillip Graham and sophomore Jamie Bakke.
Next up for the Varsity are the Brazos Valley CHEA Mustangs. This homeschool team out of the Bryan-College Station area always gives your Patriots a run for their money. The game will be a home game for the Patriots, but will be played at the Prairie Lea football stadium in Prairie Lea, Texas beginning at 7:30 PM on Friday, September 28th. The Junior Varsity will play its next game at Patriot Field on Saturday, September 29th beginning at 11:00 AM. Their opponent will be the Uvalde based Gabriel Tafolla Charter School Panthers.
Middle School vs. Boerne Geneva
(September 13, 2007)
|
Posted: September 21, 2007 |
The Middle School Patriots won their Central Texas Conference opener against Boerne Geneva Christian by a score of 35-6. The Patriots were clicking on all cylinders as the offense only needed 14 offensive plays for entire game, scoring on 5, to wrap up the game. Leading the offensive charge was Kaleb Ham who carried the ball four times for 118 yards and three touchdowns and Stephen Burbank who caught a Nathan Harris pass for a touchdown as well. Burbank also played the hero role on defense with two pass interceptions; one of which he retuned for a touchdown.
Zach Lowe led all tacklers with five solos and two assists, while Pete-Eric Cutting and John Harvey played outstanding defense in their roles. Andrew Kearse had his best day as a Patriot gathering two solo tackles and one assist. Ramsey Sweatmon also had his best day as well, putting pressure on the offense and recording his first assist on a tackle.
Key blocking by Hugo de los Santos, David Hunt, and Jason Gentry made a significant impact for the offensive effort. Again, the Patriot defense was very effective, and they were able to neutralize a potent Geneva passing offense.
The Patriots’ next “A” game is against Bulverde Bracken Christian at FEAST Field on Tuesday, September 18th at 5:00 p.m. The Patriots will try to avenge last season’s loss of 23-22 to Bracken, which kept the Patriots out of the conference championship game. The game against Bracken is part of a doubleheader day – the Patriots’ “B” team will play Austin Hill Country Christian at 2:00 p.m. Be a part of the excitement as the Patriots play two very competitive games!
Middle School B Game 1
|
Posted: September 21, 2007 |
On Tuesday, September 11th, the FEAST Patriots Middle School “B” football team made their 2007 season debut in an exciting game against St. Peter and St. Paul School of New Braunfels. After falling behind on the scoreboard 20-6 by halftime, the Patriots came out in the second half determined to work their way back into the game.
Jacob Lindsey, behind the blocking of a determined line, became a one man scoring machine in the second half with touchdown runs of 55, 62, 5, and 21 yards respectively. Troy Chesnut’s interception and touchdown dash helped bring the Patriots back into the game as the “Minutemen” lived up to their nickname closing the score to 45-39 late in the game. After “Touchdown” Lindsey’s final score, the Patriot defense forced the Warrior’s offense into a “four and out” possession setting the stage for the final dramatic drive. Taking over the ball with just 30 seconds left in the game, the Minutemen were able to mount a 25 yard to the Warriors 10 yard line before time ran out. It can truly be said that the Patriots didn’t lose; they just ran out of time.
Contributing to the outstanding effort on both offense and defense was Justin Jacobs who contributed a touchdown catch and numerous tackles. Key tackles and timely blocks by Troy Chesnut were also critical to the comeback. John Harvey showed lots of poise as he played quarterback for the first time in his football career and he also did a solid job at defensive end. Plenty of hustle from David Hunt, Jacob Whiten, Travis Orr, and Ramsey Sweatmon kept the Patriots in the game, especially at the end.
The Minutemen will play the “B” team from Austin Hill Country Christian School on Tuesday, September 18th at 2:00 as part of a middle school doubleheader extravaganza at FEAST’s Patriot field. Cheer on your Patriots as they make history this season!
San Antonio – Highlighting a host of new players, the FEAST Patriots Junior Varsity Football team opened its 2007 season with a 38-0 victory over the Winston School Eagles.
The outcome of the game was never in doubt as the Patriots received the opening kickoff and proceeded to score on their first play from scrimmage when Freshman tailback Ruben Rogerio rocketed down the middle of the field on a 47 yard strike. After the ensuing kickoff, Sophomore defensive end Luke Colyer recovered an Eagle fumble on their first offensive play; followed immediately by a 25 yard scoring scamper by Freshman readback Caleb Miller.
With the score standing 12-0 with less than 1 minute gone in the game, the Patriots settled down and put the game out of reach with two more first quarter touchdowns. The first being a 25 yard sprint to pay dirt by Freshman quarterback Anthony Huber and the second a 2 yard pop, again by Huber.
In the second half, Rogerio scored again on a 43 yard blast ending the day with 94 rushing yards to lead all rushers. Rounding out the scoring was Sophomore tailback Aaron Macias, who scored on a 43 yard pass from Huber.
On defense the Patriots provided a “stone wall” which completely shut down the Eagles offense. Leading the charge were Sophomore defensive end Kevin Pena with 7 tackles, Freshman defensive end Josh Hogan with 4 tackles and 1 fumble recovery and Sophomore nose guard Phillip Graham with 2 tackles.
Next up for the JV Patriots, who are 1-0 for the season, will be to combine with the Varsity for back to back games against the New Braunfels Christian Academy Warriors and Christian Academy of San Antonio Rams at FEAST’s home field. Check the FEAST Sports calendar for dates and ti | |
